Slaying the Social Media Beast

In today's publishing landscape, with more and more of the marketing falling directly to the author, it's important to understand the role of social media in connecting to new readers and exciting your existing base.

Whether you are a social media newbie or looking to elevate your knowledge to the next level, let Moxie Road co-founder Tarja Parssinen take the fear out of the equation and help you establish and grow your social media presence.

Tarja will help you learn and understand Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for writers, as well as how to use Goodreads and create an Amazon author page. Among the many topics are:

  • Creating a Facebook Author page and learning how to build community

  • Understanding how Facebook promotions work

  • Learning how to create a Twitter moment and use the platform as a writer

  • Updating all outdated social media profiles (bios, headshots, etc.)

  • Creating an Amazon / Goodreads author page

  • Learning how to maintain an everyday presence on social media without going crazy

Tarja’s social media experience

Tarja's background is in sales and marketing. A former National Account Sales Manager for Random House, selling books to Barnes & Noble, she is familiar with positioning books pre and post-publication for maximum effect.

She began conquering The Nothing known as social media in 2010 (if you got that reference, you're awesome), in the early days of blogging and entered the Twittersphere in 2010, and Facebook shortly thereafter. She has learned simply by doing.

Tarja is the social media manager for Moxie Road and knows exactly what writers need to maintain their presence on certain platforms, both during a publication campaign and in between.
